Mission & History

Mission

To bring opportunities for education to places where children have no hope of attending school. No hope of getting an education. No hope of a brighter future beyond poverty

History

RIZE was organized by people with lifelong involvement in education and international charity work. RIZE has launched a project in Zoewulum, River Cess County, Liberia, to build a school that will serve as many as 150 children of Zoewulum, Juludoe and Topay towns. The Zoewulum town elders have donated 5 acres of land for the school. The citizens of those three towns have elected a local School Board. As a sign of their commitment to providing a school and an education for their children, the local citizens have harvested several tons of rock and sand from the Duwen River, by hand! They have also molded hundreds of concrete blocks and bricks, by hand. RIZE has provided the funds for cement, steel rebar, lumber, roofing, nails, tools, etc. RIZE is paying the salary of a local professional builder to supervise the volunteer construction crew. RIZE is also in the process of developing a Christian based curriculum, while the School Board is working with the River Cess Ministry of Education to hire an administrator and teaching staff. The School Board has also recruited a volunteer staff of cooks and maintenance personnel. Our goal is to be ready for the beginning of the coming school year, which starts in September 2022.  While RIZE, as an organization has a short history, we have a depth of experience in, and passion for helping others succeed in places and under circumstances where success is hard to come by.
